NMS Chorus Activity Calendar
2011-12
September• Fri., Sept. 9 at Milton HS; All students invited to sing the Star Spangled Banner at Milton Football Game.
• Fri., Sept. 9; Students auditioning for the GMEA All State Chorus must submit registration fee. 7th and 8th grade students are eligible.
• Fri., Sept. 23 Rock-a-thon at NMS; All students Rock-a-thon 4:00-8:00 PM in the school cafeteria.
October
• Wednesday, October 12 at 7:00 PM in the Milton HS Auditorium. All students perform fall concert for parents and friends. Students must wear formal choral outfit.
• Sat., October 15; GMEA All State audition. 7th and 8th students only.
November
• Fri. and Sat., Nov. 4-5 location TBA; 7/8 GMEA Fifth District Honor Chorus.
December
• December 8 at NMS; 6th Grade Chorus and Orchestra Holiday Concert. Concert starts at 7:00 PM.
• December 12 at NMS; Holiday Concert including all music groups. 7th and 8th grade choral students only. Concert starts at 7:00 P.M.
• December 20 at NMS; 6th grade chorus students rehearse following school and then celebrate a successful semester (and winter break!) with refreshments and music. Parent pick up at 5:30 PM.
• December 22; 6th grade chorus students perform for student body in the morning as the students report to class. Students will sing in the atrium area and should arrive at school by 8:00 AM.
January
• Fri., Jan. 20 at North Springs HS in Fulton County; Second audition for GMEA All State. In the event of inclement weather, Sat., Jan. 28 in Savannah is the alternate date.
• Thursday, January 19 at 6:30 PM at Milton HS; Milton Cluster concert.
February
• Fri. and Sat., Feb. 3-4; GMEA 6th Grade Honor Chorus. Students will audition during class for this event.
• Tues. and Wed., Feb. 14-15; All choral students will be involved in the Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) that include choral performance and sight reading music for adjudication.
• Thurs. through Sat., Feb. 23-25 at Savannah, Georgia; GMEA All State Chorus. This will include the students who have successfully completed the two previous auditions and were selected to attend.
March
• Wed. through Sat., March 1-3 in Winston-Salem, SC; Students who have successfully auditioned for the Regional American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Honor Chorus will attend.
• Sat, March 24 at Six Flags over Georgia; All students who wish to attend the Southern Star Music Festival are invited. Students will rehearse before school on Tuesday mornings in March to prepare for this event.
April
May
• Tuesday, May 1 and Wednesday, May 2; 7th and 8th Grade Rehearsal for musical. Students will remain after school until 6:30 PM.
• Thursday, May 3 and Friday, May 4; 7th and 8th Grade Musical. Showtime is 7:00 PM. Cast Call time to be announced.
• May 14 at NMS Gym. 6th Grade NMS Choral Concert starting at 7:00 PM.
